Our Main Street Campus Is Open! Here's How It’s Going
If you've been following along, you already know the big news: Learn Music has a second campus. And now that we've officially been open for over a month, we wanted to share how it's going.
A Quick Recap
On July 15th, we opened the doors at 20601 N Main Street, a brand-new campus just 0.3 miles down the road from our original Townie Campus, tucked into a historic old house right in the heart of downtown Cornelius. Purpose-built for music education, with room for up to 16 classrooms, it's the extra space we needed to say "yes" to more students who want to be part of this community.
"We've been dreaming about this for a long time, and we couldn't be more excited to open our Main Street Campus right in the heart of downtown Cornelius, a town we love so much," says Adam Wilson, founder of Learn Music. "This old house has so much history, and turning it into a music school lets us bring even more music, art, and joy to the community."
And to be clear, for anyone who's asked: this isn't a move, it's an addition. Our Townie Campus is staying exactly as it is. Same teachers, same schedules, same familiar space. Learn Music is still one school. We just have two homes now, both on Main Street, close enough to walk between.
One Month In
It's nice to see the halls fill up with students after weeks of construction. Lessons are underway, instructors are settling into their new classrooms, and the space is starting to feel less like a construction project and more like a music school.
We're seeing piano, guitar, voice, and drum lessons happening throughout the building, along with Legends rehearsals in our new, fully-outfitted band room. There's still plenty of work to do upstairs, but downstairs is officially part of the day-to-day rhythm of Learn Music.
The Open House
On August 15th, we welcomed the community to a Main Street Campus Open House from 3 to 6 PM, giving families a chance to see the new space for themselves. The halls were bustling throughout the afternoon as students and families toured the building, met our Main Street instructors, and took free trial lessons.
We also had Sabor Vinotinto food truck on site, and three of our Legends bands took the stage for live performances. It was a great way to put the new space to use for the first time and, after months of construction updates, finally have people filling the building.
Thanks to everyone who stopped by, grabbed some food, listened to some music, or just came to check out what's happening at Main Street. We're excited to keep building on that momentum.
What's Next?
For now, the downstairs is open and lessons are happening as usual. In September, we'll begin construction on the upstairs, which will add even more classrooms and space for students as the campus continues to take shape.
We're still a few months away from seeing the whole building come together, but we're already looking forward to what it will become. Construction is expected to wrap up early next year, and we can't wait to celebrate the grand opening of the finished Main Street Campus with our students, families, and the rest of the community.
