Luke - Piano
Luke Coen is a pianist, arranger, and music educator from the Huntersville area. He began his musical journey at a young age, learning his favorite songs on a small Casio keyboard. What started as a hobby quickly became a passion, helping him develop a strong foundation in piano and music theory.
Luke's formal music education began through band programs, where he performed on euphonium, trombone, tuba, and baritone in concert, marching, jazz, orchestral, and community ensembles. During this time, he discovered a love for music arranging and has since gained more than eight years of experience using music notation software. As both a section leader and band president, Luke regularly led sectionals, mentored younger musicians, and continued supporting students even after graduation. He was selected to perform with the North Carolina Charlotte Honor Band on euphonium and later performed as a trombonist with the Lake Norman Community Orchestra.
Luke furthered his musical studies through coursework at Central Piedmont Community College, North Carolina Central University, and Morgan State University, where he studied music theory, ear training, piano, and ensemble performance. He also performed with the CPCC Jazz Ensemble as a trombonist and continues to pursue music actively in his daily life.
At the heart of Luke's approach to music is a belief in collaboration and community. He is passionate about helping others grow as musicians and believes that when people work together, they can create something truly extraordinary.
