Norm began playing drums at the age of 15 and quickly discovered a passion for music that would shape his career. At 17, he studied Music Performance and Music Education at Grand Valley State University in Michigan, where he performed with the university's marching and concert bands while also playing drum set in a variety of small ensembles.

Throughout his career, Norm has studied privately with renowned instructors Jim Chapin, Giovanni Hidalgo, and Rupert Kettle. At 19, he performed with the St. Thomas Aquinas Percussion Ensemble under the direction of Rupert Kettle. Later that year, he embarked on a multi-year tour across the United States and Canada through the GMA agency. At 23, he accepted a full-time performance position at Disney's Pleasure Island, where he made Orlando his home.

While performing professionally, Norm also developed a passion for teaching, providing private drum instruction at music academies and stores throughout Central Florida. In 2014, he was recognized as a member of the Vic Firth Private Instructor Program.

In 2023, Norm relocated to the Charlotte area to be closer to family. He is excited to share his experience and love of music with students at Learn Music, helping drummers of all ages and skill levels grow in both confidence and musicianship.
